Perched on a hill top amidst 8 acres of walled-in gardens Claughton House, designed by Geoffrey Bawa, is exceptional.

Each of these well-appointed suites is air conditioned, attached to ensuite bathrooms and has fantastic ocean and garden views.

The 5 suites are dressed in a color palette of classic white with black trimmings and evoke a modern, bright and airy ambiance.

The master suite has a King sized bed, whilst the junior suites have twin beds.

The master suite and one of the junior suites also have a private garden, whilst the second junior suite has a built-in bathroom.

There is also an additional sofa bed in one of the suites. Claughton House has plenty of living space, and the open plan dining area seats six and overlooks the ocean, garden, as well as the pool.

For alfresco dining, guests can choose to dine at the poolside dining pavilion, which also has BBQ facilities.

To enjoy a spot of relaxation and rest, there is plenty of lounging space in the garden, on sun loungers by the pool, or in the covered yoga sala.

Claughton House sits in a magnificent spot, at the summit of a headland overlooking the picturesque sweep of Kudawella Bay and the Indian Ocean.
The horizon can also be seen above the opposing headland (this sight must have caught the attention of Bawa), below which is a large harbor with myriad colorful fishing boats.
Claughton sits in over eight acres of palm-studded gardens and directly accesses the secluded, sandy swathe of beach via a gate at the bottom of the land.
Nilwella, the closest village, has few facilities, but the town of Dickwella is just a few kilometers away.

Private, insured, direct airport transfers to and from the villa can be arranged. A villa manager will meet and greet you at the airport ensuring your transfer to the villa is smooth and effortless.
Private tours and boat hire can also be arranged in advance. We will handle the arrangements to collect and return you to your villa after the event. Why not enjoy a fabulous day out and explore the surrounding islands and national marine park on a luxury speed boat?
Book a car with us and have it waiting at your villa when you arrive, we have a wide range of vehicles from a 2 seat Suzuki Jeep to a 7 seat Toyota Fortuner. Price includes comprehensive insurance, unlimited miles, collection and delivery, and optional baby and booster seats.
Prior to your arrival we will send you a food and wine shopping list allowing us to stock the villa with your favorite foods and beverages.
Once on site, your resident villa staff will ensure the villa is kept clean and tidy. Your villa manager is available to cater to guests’ specific needs and can help organize island activities, massage and spa treatments, as well as helping communicate requests to the Thai chef and dealing with any matter arising at the villa. Bed linen is changed every third day and towels are changed as necessary. Pool towels are provided and replenished as deemed necessary.

AIRPORT TRANSFERS
Depending on the number of guests arriving at once, a variety of vehicle options are available including saloon cars, 4 wheel drives, and people carriers, as well as fixed wing sea planes and helicopters.
GUIDED CYCLING
Sometimes the simpler things in life provide the greatest pleasure. Guided bike tours through the lush green paddy fields give a glimpse of an often unseen part of Sri Lanka. Marvel at kingfishers and bee-eaters, glimpse the daily rituals of village life or just enjoy the cool breeze of free-wheeling through a magnificent landscape. This has been a longtime top excursion.
WELCOME BASKETS
There’s nothing better after a long journey than delicious smells coming from the kitchen and a few bottles chilling in the fridge. We will send you the villa menus and work with the best suppliers to produce a fantastic collection of wines and champagnes to complement any palette. Wines need to be paid for in advance of arrival.
KANDYAN DANCERS / BUDDHIST BLESSINGS
An intimate front row seat of the unique Kandyan Dancers – expect back-flips, drums, masks and fire display – all from the comfort of the villa. Most villas have a shrine and guests can benefit from a visit by Monks from a nearby Temple to conduct a blessing for a gentle and moving experience.
WHALE WATCHING
From December to April Whales and dolphins, including the mighty Blue Whale, can be seen off the southern coast. Seeing one of the largest animals on earth in one of the most agreeable temperatures is a truly amazing experience. We always recommend a private boat so that guests can swim or snorkel before coming ashore.
SAFARI
Udewalawa and Yala are the big two and offer fantastic game viewing of Leopards, Elephants, Buffalo & Sloth Bears. For birders, SL is a dream destination. Kalametiya and Bandula National Park are a must and some 197 different species of bird will stop here throughout the year.
SUNSET SAILING
