Matara, Southern Province, Sri Lanka

Villa Meda Gedara is a 7-bedroom mansion that sits on a beautiful beach a few kilometres from Dikwella.

A perfect setting for group gatherings or family celebrations, the unrivalled attention to detail of this newly-constructed property elicits a traditional aura with a contemporary opulence that is completely unique.

The blend of intricate hand-made Vietnamese tiles, vast antique wooden front doors and an ornate timber staircase comes together in perfect harmony to deliver a dwelling of genuine inimitability.

Hidden amongst the tropical planting lies the water slide (use at own risk) snaking it’s way into a plunge pool that rather geniously is separated from the main pool to allow kids to splash around whilst the less frantic can relax in calm waters.

A large terrace offers ample tanning spots.

The chef is excellent and all food will tickle the taste buds.

In all, this is a fabulous house that exudes wonderful energy and promises a fun time for all family and friends.

The master bedroom sits on the first floor with its own exclusive balcony, four-poster king bed and canopied mosquito nets.

Access to the nursery makes this ideal for families and views across the garden create a romantic spot for evening repose.

2 further master suites sit on the first floor and are equally well-adorned, ensuites and balconies providing sanctuary from the masses, and air-conditioning affording escape from the sultry climate.

The nursery itself has two single beds and shares the ensuite with the master bedroom.

2 further bedrooms on this floor contain 6 bunks and 4 singles – both ensuite – and are ideal for accommodating the rowdier bunch.

A final secluded garden bedroom is the perfect hideaway for a fortunate couple.

Planning your Sri Lanka Experience
Depending on the number of guests arriving at once, a variety of vehicle options are available including saloon cars, 4 wheel drives, and people carriers, as well as fixed wing sea planes and helicopters.
Sometimes the simpler things in life provide the greatest pleasure. Guided bike tours through the lush green paddy fields give a glimpse of an often unseen part of Sri Lanka. Marvel at kingfishers and bee-eaters, glimpse the daily rituals of village life or just enjoy the cool breeze of free-wheeling through a magnificent landscape. This has been a longtime top excursion.
There’s nothing better after a long journey than delicious smells coming from the kitchen and a few bottles chilling in the fridge. We will send you the villa menus and work with the best suppliers to produce a fantastic collection of wines and champagnes to complement any palette. Wines need to be paid for in advance of arrival.
An intimate front row seat of the unique Kandyan Dancers – expect back-flips, drums, masks and fire display – all from the comfort of the villa. Most villas have a shrine and guests can benefit from a visit by Monks from a nearby Temple to conduct a blessing for a gentle and moving experience.
From December to April Whales and dolphins, including the mighty Blue Whale, can be seen off the southern coast. Seeing one of the largest animals on earth in one of the most agreeable temperatures is a truly amazing experience. We always recommend a private boat so that guests can swim or snorkel before coming ashore.
Udewalawa and Yala are the big two and offer fantastic game viewing of Leopards, Elephants, Buffalo & Sloth Bears. For birders, SL is a dream destination. Kalametiya and Bandula National Park are a must and some 197 different species of bird will stop here throughout the year.
Setting out from Mirissa harbor to enjoy the sunset from the comfort of a luxury catamaran has been one of our top-rated experiences. For 3 hours embrace the joys of the ocean, sipping a sundowner or snorkeling. This is an unforgettable experience and one your clients will treasure forever.
